The USPS issued the Stamps to actively showcase winter’s natural beauty and resilient animal species.

Each stamp actively features a different woodland animal – deer, fox, rabbit, and owl, in their wintery habitats. Katie Kirk illustrated the art.

The First Day of Issue Ceremony actively took place at Woodland Old Town Hall in Woodland, Michigan.

When the weather turns cold, animals actively find ways to stay warm and fed until spring.

Some animals actively fatten up in summer and fall, hibernating through winter, while others remain active.

Animals use their thick fur coats or downy feathers actively to resist wind and cold while searching for food.

Owls and foxes, with keen hearing, actively detect prey hiding under more than three feet of snow.

The Mitten, a Ukrainian fairy tale, actively offers a whimsical view of animals finding warmth in a lost mitten.

Jan Brett’s English version actively retells the story of a little boy losing a mitten in the snow, with animals seeking warmth inside.

The mitten actively stretches as bigger animals climb inside, with a tiny field mouse causing the bear to sneeze and launch the mitten, scattering animals onto the snow.

It’s actively fun to consider the real and imaginary ways animals endure winter each year!
