History the stamp represents:  When it comes to love, few people have as great an impact on us as our parents.  For some, that means our biological parents, while for others it might mean step-parents, adoptive parents, or even just people in our lives we see as parental figures.  The type of love they provide is unlike any other.  It is, arguable, the most important type of love we receive.

Both parents’ love is important, but there’s a big difference between a mother’s love and a father’s love.  A mother’s love makes us feel safe, warm, and supported no matter what.  A father’s love makes us feel protected, settled, and accepted for who we are.  There’s some overlap between the two, but the subtle differences are important in defining a unique relationship with each parent.

Parents are people we can share our happiest moments with and our deepest sorrows.  They know how to make us laugh and how to encourage us when the going gets tough.  And, as their children (biological or not), the best way of thanking them for their love is by giving it right back to them.  After all, the love of a child for their parent is just as meaningful.
